Top Ten Things to Avoid as a beginner in iRacing
  1. Lingering in Rookie Series - Don't get too comfortable in the Mazda MX-5 Rookie Racing. Move up once you've learned the basics to experience

cleaner and more competitive racing.
  1. Neglecting Your Safety Rating (SR) - Avoid racing recklessly. A high SR is your ticket to higher license classes, where racing etiquette improves.
  2. Ignoring iRating - Don't focus solely on SR. Your iRating matches you with drivers of similar skill, so improving it is key for competitive races. Once you get better at avoiding collisions at the lower iRating that can sustain you for a while. And just finishing will improve your iRating at the lower levels because a lot of people don't. So, that's when you need to improve your skills at the VRS datapack plans, and Team VRS can help you get better faster. You can look at all you get here: https://vrs.racing/teamvrs
  3. Driving Blindly - Avoid jumping into races without understanding your car's handling. Master the Mazda MX-5 handling, balance, braking, and get plenty of practice and know the track before you jump into a race. First do some ai races. If you can easily finish an ai race, you are probably ready for a real race. But remember, on the first turn, people are going to do unexpected things.

  1. Unnecessary On-Track Battles - Steer clear of overly aggressive driving. Sometimes, conceding a position can save your race and ratings.
  2. Overlooking Fixed Setup Series - Don't dive straight into open setup races. Start with fixed setups to hone your driving skills without the added complexity of car adjustments.
  3. Insufficient Practice - Never skip practice sessions. Understanding both the track and how your car behaves on it can drastically reduce on-track incidents.
  4. Skipping Endurance Races - Avoid missing out on endurance racing once you're eligible. These races offer unique challenges and can be among the most rewarding experiences.
  5. Isolation from the Community - Don't race in a vacuum. Joining a team or community can provide valuable support, and setups, and enhance your racing through teamwork. Practice with others off-line or in special VRS team practices. If you are looking for a community to practice in a non-judgmental setting, this could be it. 6. Monotony in Racing Choices - Avoid sticking to just one car or series. Diversify your racing portfolio to become a well-rounded driver, capable of handling various racing disciplines.
